Wyndham Art Newsletter - Guelph, Ontario

The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work.                                                                              Vince Lombardi

We hope that everyone enjoyed a happy Family Day long weekend and that the new week has been met with renewed vigor. With spring right around the corner, it is time to shake off the winter hibernation mode and get to work. Artists are starting to think about their spring shows and students are utilizing our portfolio assessment service for their interviews to art colleges and universities.

That means that it is time for some Wyndham news!

We are putting out a Call To Artists for our 2nd Annual joint Silent Auction with the Guelph Youth Music Centre. The proceeds will again go to M.A.K.E. (Music and Art for Kids Education). We are looking for 48 community-minded artists who are willing to create a work of art on a 10" x 10" canvas. Wyndham Art Supplies will provide the canvas and you will have until April 15th to produce your creation and return your canvas to the store.

In keeping with Music and Art, we have decided to theme this year's auction. The theme will be "Song Titles". Artists are asked to create a piece that reflects their interpretation of a song of their choice. While the pieces are being shown and bid on, the public will be invited to guess the titles for a chance to win prizes!

If you are interested in participating, please contact Blaire at products@wyndhamARTsupplies.com or drop into the store to pick up your canvas.

Chris, Austin and Laura have been busy finding new products that we are very excited to share with you;

Polychromos coloured pencils by Faber Castell. These pencils are extremely lightfast, have break resistant leads, are waterproof and non smudge. Austin LOVES these! They have been ordered but have not yet arrived however we thought you should know about them.

Pearl-Ex Metallic Pigments are here in both 4oz and 1 pound jars. For further information on these amazingly versatile products you can visit the Jacquard website by following this link:http://www.jacquardproducts.com/products/pearlex/powders/index.php

Ecojot books, technically not a new product for us, are produced by one of those manufacturers that deserve to be "spotlighted". This is one of those companies that makes you very proud to be Canadian. All Ecojot products are 100% post-consumer recycled paper content, the paper is acid free and processed chlorine free. All the inks and glues are vegetable based and shrink-wrapped in biodegradable plastic. The paper mill is powered by biogas! If that is not impressive enough they are running a Buy 1 Give 1 program. You buy one of their products and they donate a workbook or pencil to a child in need. This is proudly a MADE IN CANADA product line. For more information you can visit their website at: www.ecojot.com.

Woohs stream at http://woohs.blogspot.com taps into many streams of thought and action. Nearby yoga at http://nearyoga.blogspot.com taps into human body movement using yoga techniques and Kundalini meditation.  At Togwells Publishing we focus on people's notions of pilgrimage of body, mind, and soul, http://togwells.blogspot.com. Whatever your beliefs, there is no end to motion, just evolution and unrelenting change, seen or unseen. Energy is motion both in reality and calculation. Take time to rest even though all inside you is always moving. Your massive relative pause gives opportunity for other smaller streams to catch up. Take time to meditate so that you can see with your mind what lies within and beyond.
